Add & edit menu items

Your menu lives in the dashboard under Menu, organized into sections (Starters, Mains, Drinks…) with items inside. What you enter here is exactly what the AI chat knows — the more you fill in, the better it answers your diners.

How it works

1. Open Menu in your dashboard sidebar.
2. Add a section first (say, "Starters"), then Add item inside it.
3. Give the item a name and price. Tip: after typing the name, tap Auto-fill to let AI draft the description, tags, and ingredients for you — see Auto-fill your menu with AI.
4. Fill in the rest of the fields (below), then save. Changes go live for diners immediately.

What each field does

Item details work in two layers:

• On the menu card — what diners see while browsing: name, price, description, photo, dietary tags, and spice level.
• In the chat — what the AI uses to answer questions: the ingredient list, allergens, and preparation notes. Diners don't see these on the card, but the AI cross-checks them whenever someone asks "does this contain nuts?" or "can this be made dairy-free?" — so accuracy here really matters.

Dietary tags

Every item carries at most one of the main dietary classes — non-veg, vegetarian, vegan, or eggetarian — plus any extra tags like gluten-free. Picking a new class replaces the old one, so an item can never be tagged both vegetarian and non-veg. Diners filter by these, and the AI uses them to answer "what can a vegan eat here?"

Ordering your menu

Drag sections and items by their handles to arrange the menu the way you want diners to read it — the diner's menu follows your order exactly. New items land at the end of their section.

Editing and removing items

Tap any item to edit it. Price changes apply to new orders only — an order a diner already placed keeps the price they were quoted. Deleting an item removes it from the menu and the chat, but past orders still show what was sold.

Good to know

• Items you add by hand go live as-is — you wrote them, so there's nothing to review. Items created by a menu scan are marked for a quick review first; see Review scanned items.
• Ingredients power allergy answers. If an item's ingredient list is empty, the AI will say it doesn't know rather than guess — safe, but not helpful. A minute per item pays off.
• The menu editor is always free, whatever your plan.
