Your menu
Auto-fill your menu with AI
Digitize a printed menu in minutes, or fill in a single dish from just its name.
Typing a full menu by hand is slow. AskFoodie can fill in dish details from just a name, scan a photo of one menu section, or digitize your whole printed menu at once. You always get a preview to check before anything is saved.
How it works
There are three ways in, from smallest to biggest:
- Auto-fill one item. When adding an item, type its name and tap Auto-fill. AI drafts the description, dietary tags, spice level, and ingredient list. Review the fields, adjust anything, and save.
- Scan one section. Tap the camera icon on a section and photograph that part of your printed menu. AI reads the dish names and prices, fills in each dish's details, and shows a preview with checkboxes — untick anything you don't want, then create the rest in one go.
- Scan the full menu. Tap Scan Menu and pick photos of every page. AI builds the whole structure — sections and items together — merging pages and skipping duplicates. Review the preview, then create everything at once.
Reviewing what the AI wrote
The AI is a good guesser, not a chef at your restaurant. Dietary tags, allergens, and ingredients are its best estimate, so bulk-scanned items are marked for review and the menu page reminds you until you've looked them over — see Review scanned items & dietary tags. Pay special attention to allergens and hidden ingredients (ghee in a "vegan" curry is the classic).
Good to know
- Common dishes fill instantly. Well-known dish names are answered from a shared library, so "Paneer Tikka" doesn't need a fresh AI call.
- Section names guide the tags. Items scanned from a section called "VEG STARTERS" are kept vegetarian even if the AI wavers; drinks are never marked non-veg.
- ALL-CAPS menus come out clean — names are converted to normal capitalization automatically.
- Duplicates are skipped. Scanning a page twice won't create the same dish twice.
- Scanning is free. It's part of the menu editor, not the paid AI chat.
